... to make sure Viper won big before its exit from racing... and it's a pretty biased !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
I complained about IMSA a lot late in the season and I think it needs a lot of improvement, but I also think it's a little silly to suggest balance of performance changes were made specifically to give a team a leg up. Porsche still won the manufacturer's title (albeit by 3 points) and Viper split the two drivers from its top team to make sure one of them won the driver's title (they still won the team title by 11 points over Corvette).
It just makes me think of some comments I read elsewhere that accused IMSA of making rules that gave Corvette an advantage in the early part of the season when the the No. 3 car won four straight. People forget Daytona and Sebring were very meh for the Corvette and the No. 4 car struggled to get out of a terrible funk until Petit.
Yes, BOP was annoying and made the No. 3 uncompetitive down the stretch, but a conspiracy to make sure Viper went out with a bang? Come on.
ETA: Of course there was also !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that took the leading Ferrari out and killed Corvette's chances at the driver and team titles.
